Frederick Joseph Le Penske III Born: December 30, 1940 in Seattle, WA Died: June 3, 2022 in La Quinta, CA Beloved husband, father and grandfather Frederick "Fred" Joseph Le Penske III passed away peacefully at 81. He was born December 30, 1940 in Seattle WA at Fort Lawton Army Base. He moved around with his family while growing up living in Germany and Florida and eventually settling back in Washington. He attended Highline High School, there he met Sandi – His high school sweetheart. He attended the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO where he played football and then transferred to the University of Washington where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Fred and Sandi married in June of 1961 and spent many years moving around during his long career. They made homes in Washington, Colorado, British Columbia and Ohio where Fred worked for Boeing, Coors, Tree Island Steel, Amoco and Liquid Container. Eventually they settled in Illinois where they spent many wonderful years. He enjoyed travel, skiing and was an avid scuba diver. His love of hunting, the outdoors and waterfowl led him to running dog trials and judging HRC events. He also loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events where he enjoyed coaching from the stand at all their games. He is proceeded in death by his father Frederick J LePenske II and his mother Maxine R LePenske Powell. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Sandi, his daughter Dena (Seth), son Scott (Catherine), daughter Sue (Ed) and Sister Geraldine (Richard). He leaves behind four grandchildren, MacKenzie, Gabrielle, Delainey and Jackson as well as nephews, grandnephews and grandniece as well as friends who will miss him deeply. A service celebrating his life will be held October 29, 2022 in La Quinta, CA where he made his winter home.
